Priya is a highly experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist with over 25 years of dedicated service. A 1999 graduate of Christian Medical College, Vellore (India), she has worked across hospitals and special needs centres in India, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), bringing a wealth of international experience to her practice.
Her professional journey has been deeply rooted in paediatric rehabilitation, with a focus on supporting children facing a wide range of developmental challenges. These include ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, retained primitive reflexes, sensory processing difficulties, learning disabilities, handwriting challenges, Down syndrome, and various congenital and chromosomal conditions.
Priya holds advanced certifications in Ayres Sensory Integration from CLASI (USA) and Rhythmic Movement Training (RMTi, USA). She is also well-versed in designing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and framing curriculum for children with special needs. Her training spans numerous specialized areas including: Oncology Rehabilitation and Lymphedema Management, PETŐ’s Conductive Education, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Assistive Technology , Makaton (sign-supported communication), 4 Blocks of Literacy and Letterland, Handwriting programs, Clicker-7 and Animal Assisted Therapy to name a few.
In addition, she is trained in the administration of standardized Occupational Therapy assessments and the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule). A lifelong learner, Priya continuously updates her skills to remain at the forefront of her field.
She has a special interest in low-cost adaptations and innovations to support children with special needs, particularly in improving handwriting skills—an area she is deeply passionate about.
Priya’s dedication was formally recognized in 2015 when she was shortlisted and awarded a certificate as a finalist for the “Outstanding Occupational Therapist” award at the 5th Princess Haya Awards for Special Education (PHASE), presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Haya.
Her passion for education extends beyond clinical practice. Priya has served as an Assistant Professor at the College of Occupational Therapy in Trivandrum, India, where she taught undergraduate students for two years.
