Alycia graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science (Psychology) in 2017 before pursuing a Master’s degree in Speech Pathology in 2018 in Melbourne, Australia. Since completing her Master’s degree in 2020, Alycia has had experience across diverse settings, including special developmental schools, community/home-based environments, and private practices.
Alycia’s strong commitment to ongoing professional development has seen her gain extensive experience and trainings in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) using high-tech applications (Proloquo2go, LAMP, AVAZ, TD Snap), and low-tech communication boards and books including PODD.
Alycia is experienced in providing intervention using Hanen (More Than Words), Social Cognitive interventions including Social Thinking ®, executive functioning management, and Neurodiverse-Affirming best-practices for autistic and ADHD populations.
With over five years of hands-on experience, Alycia has successfully supported individuals ranging from 15 months to 18 years old with a broad spectrum of diagnoses. Her expertise encompasses conditions such as autism, Global developmental delay, Down syndrome, Rett syndrome, Angelman syndrome, Pathological demand avoidance, childhood apraxia of speech, speech sound delays, expressive and receptive language delays, auditory processing disorder, dyslexia, ADHD, and Intellectual disability.
Alycia is known for her dynamic and compassionate approach to therapy. She is dedicated to providing evidence-based, neurodiverse-affirming speech and language therapy to children and adolescents in need of communication support. Alycia advocates for multimodal forms of communication, employing child-led, naturalistic therapeutic approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs. Her mission is to empower individuals with complex communication needs, fostering their self-advocacy and enhancing their ability to communicate confidently.
